A Study on the Korean Average Marital Life Expectancy by Marriage Life Table

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was conducted in order to find our changes of marital status and average marital life expectancy using korean marriage life table. The marriage life table was constructed by Wolfbein-Wool method. Data used in this study was obtained from the 2000 population·Housing Census and 1999 Korean Abridged Life Tables.
Ⅰ. The marital partnership findings showed that males in the 55-59 age group have the highest rate of any other age interval, the percentage was 93.02%. The highest marital partnership rate for female was chose aged 35-39, the percentage was 90.71%.
Ⅱ. The average marital like expectancy of males in the 25-29 age group was 46.55 years, whereas that of females was 40.60 year.
Ⅲ. the average marital life expectancy of males aged 25-29 increased about 7.6 years for the period of 1970-2000, whereas that of females was about 8.3 years.
Ⅳ. The difference between life expectancy and average marital life expectancy of males in the 25-29 age group was 1.36 years, but that of females was 14.59 years. Especially the difference of females was higher than that of males
